IELTS Listening: Section 2 (Review)

NOTE***:

i. Remember to understand the instructions:

ii. Before the Audio plays, you will have time to read the questions and answer options.

iii. Pay attention to keywords in the question prompts (if the text is on paper – underline them, if a computer exam – write them down on the scrap piece of paper given to you).

iv. Anticipate what you will hear.

v. For most questions in the Listening paper, you will hear two or more potential answers to each question, but only one will be correct. The incorrect answers are called distracters.

Write the correct letter, A-H, next to Questions 14-20.

i. Before you listen, read the options several times so that you become familiar with the information you need to listen for. Don’t cross out any options unless you are sure they are wrong. If you can’t decide between two answers, write down both and decide later.

ii. There may be distracters in this type of task- e.g. extra buildings or extra options in a list of possible answers.

iii. You should study the map or plan carefully BEFORE you listen. Having a clear image in your mind will help you understand what you hear.
