Essay 2

Position: To have a potluck dinner

  1. Introduction

Neutral statement: Staff parties are always fun.

Implicit thesis statement: For this year’s staff party, we should have a potluck dinner.

Explicit thesis statement: I believe that a potluck dinner would make for a great staff party.

  1. Body Paragraph

Topic sentence: There are many reasons why a potluck dinner would make for a great staff party. First, there is a lot of competition between staff members, especially the cooks so that the food will be very different from our restaurant’s regular menu. Some staff personnel will try to ‘outcook the cooks’ while the cooks will try to show who is the best cook by preparing very special food. Also, all the drinks will be free or ‘on the house’, as we say, so the entire staff can order whatever beverage they like. Finally, the staff can control the music on this night, so after dinner, we can dance to whichever songs or music we like.

  1. Conclusion:

In conclusion, this year’s potluck staff party will be a lot of fun because the staff will enjoy great food, free drinks, and the music they prefer to listen to.
