Duolingo: Task 3, Listen and Select

Listen and Select

Read and Select ‘above’, a test-taker must Listen and Select to identify real English words.

Praxis: Click on the audio icon [Click Icon here]  to listen to a spoken word then click on the word if it is a ‘real’ English word.

Time: 1:30

TIPS:

  • Listen carefully. Some words will sound not real. As a rule, if it ‘sounds real’, it is probably a ‘real’ English word. Likewise, if you have never heard the word before, it probably is not a ‘real’ English word –
  • Click on the speaker icon to replay words as many times as you like.

You must know: Parts of Speech and knowledge of Vocabulary. Try to listen to many different forms of audio recordings (news, podcasts etc.) and watch/listen to YouTube or movies.
